THE TRUTH – MELBOURNE PREMIERE + ON STAGE Q&A WITH DIRECTOR KORE-EDA

(2019, dir. Hirokazu Koreeda, w/ Catherine Deneuve, Juliette Binoche, Ethan Hawke, Ludivine Sagnier)

THE TRUTH – MELBOURNE PREMIERE + ON STAGE Q&A WITH DIRECTOR KORE-EDA will finish at approximately 8:39pm.

Melbourne Premiere of THE TRUTH and Q&A with esteemed director Kore-eda in attendance. Presented by Palace Films and the Melbourne International Film Festival. Following the global success of Cannes Palme d'Or-Winning Shoplifters, THE TRUTH (CTC) is Kore-eda's wry and charming new dramedy, pairing beloved Academy Award® nominees Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche for the first time as a celebrated actress and her estranged daughter, whose tentative reunion offers an opportunity to either repair or irrevocably fracture their relationship. Fabienne (Deneuve) is a much loved icon of French cinema. When she publishes her memoirs, her screenwriter daughter Lumir (Binoche) returns to Paris from New York for the occasion, with her struggling actor husband Hank (Ethan Hawke) and their inquisitive young daughter Charlotte (Clémentine Grenier) in tow. As Lumir begins to read Fabienne's book it becomes clear it is riddled with omissions and embellishments, especially when it comes to the great artistic rival of Fabienne's past. The combination of Kore-eda’s vast knowledge and love of French cinema, coupled with his signature tenderly observant style, makes for a hugely enjoyable film. $34 General Admission, $30 MIFF Members / Palace Movie Club (Max 2)* Tickets on sale from 10am Thurs 31 Oct. *Palace Movie Club members: When prompted, enter the code “PMC1” and click validate to access up to two discounted tickets.
