Cult Classics Return
(1962, dir. Robert Mulligan, w/ Gregory Peck, Mary Badham, Robert Duvall, Brock Peters)
Set in the 1930's, this remarkable film stars Peck as a noble Southern lawyer trying to defend a black man falsely accused of rape. He raises his two children with stoic confidence, in a bigoted and economically depressed environment. Robert Duvall plays the local spook. A moody and quite unforgettable film. Screenplay by Horton Foote from Harper Lee's novel. Winner of three Oscars, including Best Picture. Presented for the first time at The Astor in re-mastered 2K D-Cinema. GF

(1962, dir. J. Lee Thompson, w/ Gregory Peck, Robert Mitcham)
Cape Fear will start at approximately 9:34pm, and finish at approximately 11:25pm.
Robert Mitchum equals his chilling role in "The Night Of The Hunter" as an ex-con who is out to get revenge on Gregory Peck (in an equally brilliant role to his "To Kill a Mockingbird" turn) - the lawyer who put him behind bars. He puts into play an insidious plan that terrorises Peck and his family. Extremely daring subject matter for its time is still very potent, even though most of the violence and sexual tension is suggested. Still stands as a mightily scary film. GF
