Scanned at 8K from 65mm separation masters, and projected through our Barco 4K digital projection plant, with uncompressed 5.1 surround sound copied from the original master mix down tapes, this new digital version of the much loved Lawrence is as true to the original source materials as digital can get. A film once screened in 70mm ( Australia had its own 70mm print of LOA but it was sent to Korea on loan and unfortunately had Korean subtitles burnt into the print, rendering it unusable in Australia again) - we are pleased to present a two-week season of this screen great. Based on the real life of T.E. Lawrence, a British army officer who helped lead the Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire, David Lean's epic screen adaptation, often touted as the greatest movie ever made, is a film that demands to be seen on the BIG screen. Filmed on location in Jordan, Morocco and Spain and bringing together performances from Peter O'Toole, Alec Guinness, Jack Hawkins and Omar Sharif, Lawrence is Lean's true masterpiece.
