THE ASTOR REVIEW

A tale of a traveling showman in 1920s Australia who brings moving pictures to small towns throughout the country. A lovely idea for a movie (based on the memoirs of Lyle Penn) that has moments of charm and period atmosphere. Rod Taylor appears sporadically throughout the film as Meillon’s rival from Texas.

IMDB SYNOPSIS

At the beginnings of this centuary a man, his son and a piano player travel around Australia showing the first silent movies (naturally in black and white). But what they really want is stay at one place and open up a cinema.
