Poor H.G. Wells takes another hiding from the movie-makers at AIP. A shipwrecked sailor is washed up on the shores of the titular landmass where Dr Moreau is operating on animals and turning them into half animal/half humans. This hilarious remake of “The Island of Lost Souls” features Lancaster as the nicest vivisectionist you ever met, Michael York shouting a lot and a bunch of guys in rubber masks running around the jungle and wrestling cows and tigers. The surviving results of Dr Moreau’s work are regularly on display in the Melbourne CBD on Friday and Saturday nights. Presented with commentary by Cinema Fiasco who don’t wear rubber masks except at their other job. GW
