Produced and co-written by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), the film lives up to their reputations for special effects and realistic violence. A young family finds its home invaded by unfriendly spirits, who “kidnap” their 5-year-old girl. Sensationally scary ghost story with a refreshing sense of humor. The diminutive actress Zelda Rubinstein (4′ 3″), as the psychic Tangina who comes to “cleanse” the house, gives the movie new life and makes a large chunk of it work very well. PN

IMDB SYNOPSIS

A young family are visited by ghosts in their home. At first the ghosts appear friendly, moving objects around the house to the amusement of everyone, then they turn nasty and start to terrorise the family before they kidnap the youngest daughter.
