SYNOPSIS

CINEMA FIASCO PRESENTS “CHEERLEADER CAMP” Good news, bad movie fans! Cinema Fiasco returns to the Astor on December 7th for another evening of trash movie magic featuring the delirious slasher romp “Cheerleader Camp”. In this epic – also known by the evocative title “Bloody Pom Poms” – a group of cheerleaders go to summer camp to practice their routines and are done in by a murderous maniac. Who could the mysterious killer be? Who will make it out alive to cheer on the team? Who cares? No one ever watched a slasher movie for its narrative invention. But if you care about foul film aesthetics (and really you should) you’ll be thrilled by a plethora of gory deaths, an abundance of naked breasts and a cast that features such low budget luminaries as Betsy Russell (“Avenging Angel”), Lucinda Dickey (“Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo”) and former 70’s teen idol Leif Garrett. Add to that a comedy relief fat guy, a future porn queen and a terrible band and we’re talking minor classic. It’s must-see material. Cinema Fiasco is Melbourne’s favourite movie commentary comedy show and if you’re yet to partake of its pleasures it’s high time you did. Hosts Geoff Wallis and Janet A. McLeod are experts in their field and what they don’t know about awful acting, dreadful dialogue and silly special effects isn’t worth knowing. This combined with their penchant for old jokes, bad puns and bitchy banter promises one of the funniest nights out at the cinema you’ll ever have with the very real possibility of choking on your choc-ice! You’ve been warned. “The movie might be terrible but the comedy is top notch.” – Aphra Magazine “The Margaret and David of bad movies” – Onstage Melbourne “Wallis and McLeod’s wonderfully eccentric dynamic combined with some of the worst movies ever made make this a truly unique film-going experience.” – Beat Magazine
