Robert Mitchum equals his chilling role in “The Night Of The Hunter” as an ex-con who is out to get revenge on Gregory Peck (in an equally brilliant role to his “To Kill a Mockingbird” turn) – the lawyer who put him behind bars. He puts into play an insidious plan that terrorises Peck and his family. Extremely daring subject matter for its time is still very potent, even though most of the violence and sexual tension is suggested. Still stands as a mightily scary film. GF
