THE ASTOR REVIEW

From Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu comes yet another stunning portrayal of how unfortunate circumstance dictates heart-wrenching ill fortune. Uxbal, honest and spiritual, but bound by circumstance, struggles to do what’s right. Torn between responsibility, need and desire, Biutiful examines one man’s subjectivity in the context of its affect on others. Raising ethical questions as well as a challenging traditional notions of morality and familial values, Biutiful is a stunning and desperate portrayal of one man’s hindered search for forgiveness. Tara Judah. Spanish dialogue – English subtitles.
